Ref: NLB1524An exciting opportunity to join a growing business in St Albans as an Assistant Accountant has been registered exclusively with NLB Solutions. They are looking for an individual that is either studying ACCA or CIMA or looking to take it up after having gained a number of year’s experience. The role will report into an experienced and talented Finance Manager that is looking to succession plan for the teams expansion into the future. The role needs someone that experience of supporting a Manager that is responsible for all finance information produced at month end.
The business have an excellent reputation in the construction sector and have expanded their footprint over the last 5 years and with great offices and management they will offer the chance to grow and add to the skill set of the new person.
• Assisting the Finance Manager with preparation of cash flow forecasts
• Payment processing/Banking
• Daily cash book management/ recording of transactions
• Bank reconciliations
• Month end processing & review
• Assisting the Finance Manager with preparation of management accounts and various other financial reports
• The processing of purchase and sales ledger invoices
• Assisting with the preparation and submission of VAT returns to HMRC
• Assisting with the preparation and submission of CIS returns to HMRC
• Handling HMRC queries
• Overseeing and maintaining the operative payroll process
• Assisting with payroll queries
• Overseeing the employee expenses process and ensuring compliance with company policy
• Assisting with annual audit and any audit queries
• Maintaining mailboxes used to communicate with clients and external parties
• Ad Hoc queries & supporting team members in the day to day running of the finance department
• Maintaining processes and ensuring that procedures are being adhered to
• Excellent interpersonal skills and good written and verbal communication skills
• Previous experience of working in Finance
• High level of numeracy and financial awareness
• A high level of computer literacy and knowledge of IT systems, including Microsoft Excel
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Experience within the construction industry preferred but not necessary
• Experience with Sage 50 preferred but not necessary
